Mile High Moments

Denver is our second home!  We have been lucky enough over the last eight years to travel here about 50 times.  And with each trip we try our best to have an adventure.  The city is surrounded by numerous outdoor wonderlands and activities.  There is no shortage of places to go and things to see!

We don't always get a chance to make long trips, but find something awesome every time.

S sees an amazing doctor here and we feel so grateful that we have access to him and to the side effect of this gorgeous part of the country.  We've been to Garden of the Gods, driven the Peak to Peak Hwy with our friend, explored Rocky Mountain National Park, enjoyed an amazing coffee shop in Estes Park, toured Celestial Seasonings as well as Hammond Candy factory, wandered through Boulder, had lunch in Fort Collins, and so much more.  The possibilities are endless.

This trip was short and sweet.  The day we arrived, there was no grand adventure needed!  We were happy to enjoy a summer lightning storm, great Mexican food for dinner, indulgent funnel cakes for dessert, and the best kind of company.

Colorado is known for being full of wildlife.  We found some after a yummy dinner on the patio at La Sandia.

When presented with a Funnel Cake shop, you don't pass it up.  Ever.  Seriously.

We woke up to blue skies, puffy white clouds, and the vast views that make you feel the love of Mother Nature.  We also saw a bunny on the way to the car early in the morning.  Although they are plentiful here, they still make us smile.

How gorgeous is this view?  Even headed to the hospital, the scene sets your spirits high and fills your soul with optimism.

Cheerful and ready for the day.  She is an expert patient and a perfect gown model.

After a successful trip to see Dr. Y, and a good nights rest, She was feeling well enough to drive up the road to gorgeous views of the Rocky Mountains as we climbed up to Berthoud Pass and the Continental Divide.  On the way up we stopped at Berthoud Pass Falls, which is a genrous rush of water down the mountain side.  It provides a quick spot to pull off the highway, take a selfie, and be amazed at the valley and mountain views.

Not much further to the top and the Continental Divide.  We have visited this spot previously, and knew it would be low key enough for S to take it easy while recovering, would be quick enough to do before heading to the airport, and would not disappoint.  It was cold at the top of the pass, and there was lots of snow still on the ground.  A sweatshirt for her, shorts and a tee for him.

View to the East.  We have never actually crossed the divide to explore the other side.  These west coast kids just aren't sure about crossing the line!

After our outdoor adventure, we headed back to DIA for the flight home to CA.  With a few hours to kill we were glad to grab a table at Root Down DIA, enjoy a beautiful meal, and watch the hustle and bustle of the airport out the windows.  We have dined at the original Root Down a couple of times and were excited when we found out that they were opening another location within the C gates at DIA.  Perfect.
