Dreaming in 4WD

Good things sometimes take time.  We dreamed up this idea of documenting our travels, of sharing our love of the outdoors, and making time for the wonderful adventures that come with Overlanding back in Jan 2014.  And then we got busy.  And before we knew it, two years had gone by!  Oops..

We are now ready, dedicated, and excited to actually do it!  J, S, Hudson the dog, and our new Rig are setting out on weekly adventures as often as we can.  Presented with the opportunity, our answer will always be "Yes, count us in!"  We hope you enjoy following along as we explore, enjoy, love, and live!

So back in 2014..

S, Hudson, and J all packed in the truck (Ellie 1) and ready to head off for a few nights on the Russian River.

We started the year with a quick road trip and an adorable rental on the Russian River.  This adventure was "tame" by most standards but filled with good times, dreaming of future explorations, and gorgeous sunsets!  To get us started, we are sharing a picturama of the trip that sparked this dream.

Mallard Manor- We chose it because Hudson is absolutely obsessed with ducks!  And it seemed meant to be.  It was a gorgeous spot and perfect for a small break from our daily routines.

Cold and foggy, the cabin felt secluded, peaceful, and a perfect way to relax.  Some simple solitude can do wonders for the body, mind, and soul.

J spotted this as we drove through town.  Always one to focus in on cars, camping, and cool vintage finds, he snapped this as we explored Monte Rio and the gorgeous backroads of Sonoma County.

A quick drive to the coast for her favorite thing- watching the sunset over the ocean.  This trip we discovered what has become our favorite sunset spot on the cliffs above Wrights Beach.  An old staircase leads half way down and if you catch it in the beginning of summer, the wildflowers surround the stairs in the most beautiful combination.

Don't expect to climb down or up this staircase.  You won't get very far.  And if you are silly enough to try from the beach side... you'll need to bring some ropes and rock climbing gear!

Selfies, sunset, and silliness. Perfect.

Coffee Bazaar was a great spot to stop for coffee and breakfast in Guerneville.  Friendly staff, a large selection of food options, wonderful art displayed, and filled with beautiful faces of the locals.  Great place to smile at strangers and appreciate humanity.

Always on the lookout for some fancier places to visit, we took a walk through the golf course and enjoyed the rays of sunshine filtering through the redwoods and the mist.

Back for another sunset, this became the theme of the trip, the lasting memories, and a place to visit many times in the future.

Stay tuned for our 2016 adventures with our new Rig, Ellie 2, our Evasion Roof Top Tent from James Baroud, and the off-road and overland explorations to come!
